In need of emotional support

Posted in Group:

How does one begin to recover from being abused? How do we overcome the abuse and move onto healthy relationships? I need help reprogramming my brain. I have been so abused that I now can't hold a conversation. I am quick to jump to conclusions. HELP

welcome to Support Groups Believe. I'm glad you've joined us. I know it must have taken a lot of courage for you to post but I want you to know that you've come to a great place. Cruise around and get to know the site a little bit. Take your time. But most importantly, take care of you. If things get a little to overwhelming, stop take a step back and re-evaluate and see if you should go on or not.

Your questions are good ones. I'm hoping that some of the seasoned posters and those that have been in recovery longer can come to my rescue soon. Your first question, "How does one begin to recover from being abused?" is a good question. For me it was the decision to take control over my life again. I'm going to tell you, it's not going to be an easy ride. There's going to be pot holes along the way. Your abuser is going to try every trick of the trade to try and win you back. You've got to find your own way of saying "NO!" and sticking with that and meaning it.
